The CPI Camerata is the combination of the orchestral world and the fascinating universe of chamber music. Our distinguished program provides our participants the opportunity to discover works by diverse composers, including compositions by George Walker (African American composer), Paquito d’Rivera (Cuban composer), and Teresa Carreño (Venezuelan composer).
In addition to the technical and musical work of the chamber orchestra, conducted by violinist and conductor Simon Gollo, we will have the opportunity to discuss and explore the life and work of the selected composers during this session. This will bring forth an experience that will encourage participants to develop closer insight and understanding regarding the composer and their literature.
Participants will be selected by audition and will have the opportunity to enhance their orchestral experience through working in sectionals and daily rehearsals. The string orchestra program will be held from June 9th through June 16th, 2021, in conjunction with the 4CE x CPI program. The intense preparation of this repertoire through daily rehearsals will culminate in a live concert performance, scheduled for June 15th at Louisiana State University.
The 4CE x CPI instrumental program is hosted by CPI and partners with the Four Corners Ensemble where students will receive: chamber music coachings, private lessons, opportunity to play contemporary music with a professional ensemble, and classes about different topics such as learning and practicing more efficiently, performance anxiety, and much more.
